Nevin Aladağ - Social Fabric

The exhibition “Best Friends” (2012–2018) by Nevin Aladağ (*1972 in Van, Turkey) shows photographs of best friends whose relationship to each other finds an expression in their appearance, body language, and clothing style. Imitation and assimilation, whether conscious or not, become manifest in these friendships and allows the people portrayed to become a unit. Since 2012, Aladağ has continued to expand this series by conducting field research in various cities around the world. Public spaces, in which different identities meet, hence, become a testing ground to try out one’s own position between belonging and distinction.
